Traditional Country Skills

Country Skills

Learn a rural skill that allows you to connect with the natural environment.  We offer a range of courses including:

Hedgelaying

A traditional country skill which helps rejuvenate existing hedgerows by encouraging new growth which helps improve the hedges structure and strength, provides stock proof barrier and weather protection to crops and wildlife and provides screens to fields and gardens. This course goes ahead between October and March when the sap has gone from the leaves and birds are not nesting. If you have a hedge that needs laying please contact us as we also lay hedges and can advise and help you lay your own hedge.

Rustic Gate Hurdle Making / Trellis Making

Hurdles make good boundary fences and are useful to cordon off parts of the garden from a variety of invaders, from the chickens to the children. Hurdles/trellis can be used as plant supports and their open structure means they will not block out the light – or the view! We also make cleft gate hurdles/trellis in a range of sizes please contact us if you wish us to hire or purchase.

Stick Making (Introduction)
