Clay shooting can be enjoyed by all. You don’t need any special skills or experience, your British Association of Shooting and Conservation (BASC) coach will be with you at all times and all equipment is provided.
No experience is required; the majority of our customers are complete novices and have never held or shot a gun before.
No. We are able to offer one-off clay shooting experiences without the need for you to have a licence as you will shoot under your Instructors supervision. However under Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 (which applies to persons who have served a term of imprisonment or youth custody) you may be restricted from using a firearm. If you think this may apply to you please contact us before you book a session. Before shooting commences, all participants will be asked to sign a declaration confirming that they are not subject to restriction by virtue of Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968.
SAFETY is our first priority – we always check our venues and equipment are suitable and in good working order before each activity.
Before our activities start you will receive a full safety briefing from your BASC coach.
With every first lesson eye dominance, stance, balance, gun mount and gun fit are discussed before shooting begins. Whether you’re a complete novice with no equipment or an experienced shot the same rules apply.
Alcohol or drugs must not be consumed or taken before or during shooting.
Your instructor is Richard Clarke. He has been shooting for over 20 years and enjoys field and clay target shooting. He is very enthusiastic about introducing people to shooting especially young shots.
Richard is a lecturer in Countryside Management which includes shotgun and firearms instruction. He is a British Association of Shooting & Conservation (BASC) Shotgun Coach, Safe Shoot, BASC Safety Officer, Lantra qualified loader and DBS checked.
Richard offers 1 to 1 or group clay shooting coaching, in the field game shooting coaching and can combine coaching with loading in the field.
Clay Shooting activities take place at venues in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. We have access to green spaces and woodlands and if you book an activity with us full location details will be provided.
If you’d like to be taught at a venue of your choice please contact us to discuss. We will need to conduct a site safety survey and risk assessment before we can agree to use your venue.
Yes. Our insurance cover is provided by the National Farmers Union.
All year round – the most important thing is for you to wear the right clothes to suit the weather conditions!
We carry on!
We will always carry on as long as it is safe to do so, but we risk-assess continually and will halt or postpone an activity if we feel it is unsafe to continue. In the event of this happening, we will let you know at the earliest opportunity, arranging either to reschedule at your convenience or to issue a refund (please note that if your party or event is taking place on an external site, we may not be able to refund the site fee if that has been negotiated and paid for by yourselves).
If you decide to cancel your activity in poor weather after we have risk-assessed it as safe to go ahead, this will be treated as a cancellation and we will not be able to issue a refund. Please get in touch if you have any questions about this.
You don’t need to bring too much with you. We will provide the clay traps, gun, clays, cartridges, ear defenders, shooting glasses.
Being an outdoor sport we continue in all weather even if it is raining (as long as it is safe to do so). So we ask you to dress suitably for the countryside and time of the year.
We recommend warm clothing, sturdy walking type shoes/boots, waterproof jacket and a cap (in the summer please bring suncream and water)
Yes, one spectator is welcome to come along with you to watch, but they must wear ear protection and glasses (we can supply these) and stay in the safe designated areas.
Unfortunately children under the age of 16, if not taking part in an activity, are not allowed at any of our venues – this is in the interests of Health & Safety. If you must bring a child with you they should stay inside your vehicle, supervised by another adult.
Sorry no pets allowed.
We hope we have answered all your questions. For details on bookings, payments and cancellations please see our terms and conditions.
